I laughed too hard at the opposite of Ikigai diagram. Just thinking how long I tried to fit into the Ikigai diagram and the freedom this photo offered is something

#4 called out to me. Doom and gloom predictions have been running rampant since the election in November. Lots of hand-wringing, crying, and predictions of disaster. People conveniently forget that the result was clear, and they still don't accept it. I didn't vote for the winners, and Taking the longer view and having lived through worse times, I know that one's individual choices have a far greater effect on how life turns out than anything else.

Marilyn, such a grounded perspective.

It's easy to get swept up in the noise of doom and gloom, but you’re right—our individual choices often shape our lives more than external events.

Curious, what’s one choice you’ve made in tough times that helped you weather the storm?

There were a few choices. Keep in mind that we married in 1975, and if you look back at economic conditions then, they were worse than now, with fewer safety nets. People don't have that perspective because they didn't live through it. I chose to finish college and get a Master's degree because then it was cheap and accessible in California. We also had an opportunity to buy a home, which would have meant no easy path to a degree and likely no real career path--I was working in an office at lower wages. We waited and bought that home much later, in 1998.

I'm appreciative of your articles. Good summary...my favourite was, 'no, you don't owe anyone anything'. Looking forward to 2025!

Thank you for all you do Adam.

Many years ago, a Cree medicine woman told me that in their culture goosebumps happen when we are in resonance with the earth, when a great truth has been spoken. ( and to this day, whenever I share her words, I get goosebumps)

Your Venn diagram looks an awful lot like mine. 🥂 I'll drink to that!! Enjoy the journey. (PS - I don't drink. But, if I did...)
