I'm with the research on this one although it's the ocean for me. Adam, you should visit the Med (I'm originally from Greece), the sea is refreshing and wonderful to swim in ;)
Dear Adam, are there any data on mountains? I personally am very torn between lakes and mountains, luckily have them abundantly in my native Switzerland...
Great read, Adam. I have always felt calmness in and around water. My best mediation time is when I am swimming. Michigan will gladly welcome its precocious son for dip into one of the 11,000 lakes or kayaking in one of the 300 named rivers. Please come and enjoy Pure Michigan.
I deeply miss Lake Michigan. Even when I couldn't see it, just knowing I could walk 4 blocks east to it was reassuring to my brain and ever present in my life for 60 years. Now NC we have 700' of beautiful creek, babbling and filled with mini waterfalls - VERY different, but still restorative.
My favorite place on the Earth is and my Grandparents house right on waterfront of Long Lake in Spokane Washington. I love it for my memories of my family and obviously the water, but I agree with the science that water calms you because I instantly relax upon setting eyes on the blue scene. Happy Summer ✨
I've heard Club Med is good because they watch your kids all day so you can focus on that water feature ;-) In fact they would probably like this research since its like - their business!
4 out of 5 great lakes prefer Michigan
Except for those who are Superior ;)

Although I prefer lakes you have a point here. The Med is incredible and insanely beautiful and restorative
🙌🏻💧
As a Havana native, and then living in Miami for many years, I'll take the salty and sharky waters.
Great Lakes for the win
Totally agree. I am a Michigan native and planning to spend time on the beach near Lake Michigan this summer. Pure Michigan!!
I live in the Netherlands, a country surrounded by water. They say the Dutch are some of the happiest people on Earth so maybe there's a connection :D
The Netherlands are beautiful!! So lucky

I lived in Switzerland for four years and great question. Literally no place as striking or stunning 🥹
Thanks for sharing about Nichols' Blue Mind project, I always liked how Wallace J. Nichols would sign off his newsletter with "I wish you water"

Thank you for thinking of and mentioning the late Dr. Wallace J. Nichols. I'm certain J. would've been honored.

come to the Mediterranean - no sharks - better yet - greece!
I live in the Alps, so mountains are my happy place. Having said that, sitting on the beach in Hanalei Bay, Kauai, is very relaxing.
fwiw Some research is not needed in order to justify our feeling
Perhaps not but so cool to see that feeling validated from a biological level no?
What is the ideal place to relax on holidays with kids from 0-9?
😂
