Recently, a wise man encouraged me to aim higher. “What would you accomplish if you set out to 10x your productivity?”
Challenge accepted.
Goodbye, old pace of 4 books per decade. Hello, plan to release 4 books this year alone—without help from AI tools.
Since there’s nothing quite like a public commitment to light a fire under me, I’m introducing them now:
Happy April Fool’s Day! 😆
No, I’m not writing any of these books (though I’m tempted to tackle Take and Take… but only because I hate being typecast).
And no, I’m not writing 4 books in a year! (Self-help gurus often say that if you shoot for the moon and miss, you’ll still land among the stars. They always leave out the possibility of crashing into a really awesome asteroid. And the paradox that the people most drawn to stretch goals are frequently the least suited to pursuing them.)
If past patterns are any guide, my next book will come out around 2026. In the meantime, a few links that made me laugh:
1. Rebecca Solnit: How to Comment on Social Media
One of the great writers of our time explains how to instantly reduce the IQ of online discourse. It’s funny because it’s true.
2. Ari Eldjárn: Pardon My Icelandic
I just got back from Iceland, and it’s safe to say that after watching this Netflix special, you’ll never look at Thor the same way again.
3. Dragon Hoarding Enormous Pile of Treasure Seeks Unpaid Intern (Maeve Dunigan)
The list of responsibilities, qualifications, and benefits is epic.
In solidarity,
Adam
🤣🤣 I hate April fools day because I am both gullible and earnest. True to form, I forgot what day it was while I was reading and definitely thought striving for 10x production of all things was all a little…anathema for you, but it still didn’t click until I got to the book titles. Absolutely hilarious and thanks for the morning laugh!
The "shoot for the moon" saying has always irritated me. There are no stars between us and the moon. So, if you miss, and land among the stars, it's because your husk of a body has been floating as space debris for thousands of years.
